Story line:
I went to the Lake Wilderness Country Club instead of the Lodge by mistake. I had been only to the
country club before this event. Since I arrived at the country club 1 hour and 15 minutes early I still had
time to find the Lake Wilderness Lodge and set up in time. DJ's who set up only 30 minutes before their start
time would not have been able to do this.
I was put upstairs facing the south. I needed to be facing west to put me over the dance floor.
So I moved my location to the west part of the balcony. I used their table though I had mine in my van.
They told me they were short of chairs and asked me to use mine which I did.
I needed to put my lights next to the dance floor so I had to get my AC extension cords out to run cables
to the floor. It took an extra effort to do this. I wanted those two lights for their dance floor! I took the time to
tape the AC cords down behind the wood framing of this hall so the cables would be partially hidden. Most DJ's won't do this.
I had two more lights but they were table models and my table was upstairs.
This was 250 people and we were running behind so I checked with the bartender about the toasts.
He told me they needed to put bottles on each table. The problem was champagne bottles take a
long time to open with each being wired down. So I took over the task of helping the bartenders open the
bottles. I single handed put bottles on each table. The bartender asked me "Are you the wedding coordinator?"
I said no I was the DJ. That surprised him cause he had never seen a DJ do this. I did this so we could get
started dancing sooner.
I checked with their photographer many times during the night to coordinate the events with him to
keep things going. I was told their Father needed to say grace before we ate so I took my wireless microphone
to ask everyone to be seated. I also had to ask them to be quite so the Father could say grace. Had I not done
this their Father would have had a very hard time saying grace to a noisy room full of people ignoring him.
I took care of that quickly.
